First achieved in January 1924 by Dr Payot, this traverse between the Mt Blanc range and the Valais Alps remains a point of reference in the catalogue of famous alpine routes. Although not technically demanding, this trip requires a good physical condition and a competent level of ski touring. The crossing over some passes may require the use of ropes and the carrying of skis. Stunning scenery, most notably the arrival on Zermatt at the foot of the North face of the Matterhorn, this tour undoubtedly offers some of the most spectacular alpine images. |
