Physical level

Itinéraire d'ascension du Mont Blanc entre les Houches et le refuge du Gouter
Itinéraire d'ascension du Mont Blanc entre le refuge du Gouter et le sommet

Our "express" ascension of Mont Blanc, from the Col de Voza, can be achieved start to finish in under 24 hours.  The gauntlet has been thrown!

However, as ever the Mont Blanc requires respect and experience of high altitude glacial terrain.  This challenge is therefore directed towards very fit trail runners who also have high mountain experience.  Unlike the Mont Blanc Ultra Trail which runs around Mont Blanc, we will be running up the Mont Blanc via the Voie Royale, from the Chamolnix Valley - or more precisely from the Col de Voza at 1653m.

If you do not have high mountain experience and have never used crampons before, we would propose an additional day of ice climbing prior to the summit attempt.  And if you already have experience of climbing at altitude, with a high level of fitness - you are half way there!

Day 1 : Take the last cabin up to the hôtel du Prarion at the top of Les Houches

Day 2 : Depart during the early hours of the morning to ascend Mont Blanc and return to the valley

This ascension is aimed at experienced trail / fell runners who train regularly and have an extremely high level of fitness.  Some mountaineering experience is also required.  We will ascend in lightweight mountaineering boots (e.g. Scarpa Rebel GTX lite / La Sportiva Trango S), which are comptatible with crampons.  We suggest you wear a lightweight down jacket underneath a lightweight goretex windstopper.

Do not hesitate to contact us regarding your choice of equipment.  We will keep helmets, harnesses, crampons and ice axes at the Tete Rousse hut so enable us to climb light during the initial part of the ascension.
